Until recently, Linda McConnell was a staff photographer with the Rocky Mountain News.  She is a veteran of Denver’s newspaper wars for more then 25 years. While working as a staff photographer she was a part of the photography staff’s entry for two Pulitzer Prize wins in Breaking News Photography for coverage of the Columbine High School tragedy (2000) and the Colorado Wildfires (2003). She has many projects including ‘Battered Justice’ a look at domestic violence issues and the ‘Sick Nobody Wants’ an examination of the lives of the mentally ill sent to live outside of institutions. These projects and other garnered numerous local and national awards. ‘The Sick Nobody Wants’ won an HM with Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award.

She has taken the ‘buy out’  at the Rocky which translates not into retirement but into freelance. She is pursuing her own vision and projects.  Linda has her Masters Fine Art from the University of Denver and her Bachelor of Art from Rutgers University.  With a background in fine art she will be taking the time to develop those ideas.
